Elvis Presley a Poignant Entertainer

“Is Elvis alive or dead?” this was the question makes me write about this legendary figure .Elvis was a soldier of battleground as well as stage. He started his career as a soldier of stage at the age of ten year & won the $5.00 second price by singing “Old Shep." Elvis was a sensitive man of media and will never be forgotten. For me the sensitivity of a person is judged by how much he loves his mother and Elvis was very much closed to her mother .He used to call her mother by pet names which reveals their close liaison. His mother’s death was proved to be the first mental shock from which he never recovered. In later interviews “Presley would call her death the great tragedy of his life”. The stun was further strengthened by his divorce with Priscilla Presley. After the divorce he never remarried and did not have more kids with other women which are the attestation of his never ending love with Priscilla (despite having many love affairs and controversies). The distresses of his life later on summed up in the form of his deteriorating health due to addiction to prescriptive drugs. While talking to a reporter once he commented himself as;

"I ain't no saint, but I've tried never to do anything that would hurt my family or offend God...I figure all any kid needs is hope and the feeling he or she belongs. If I could do or say anything that would give some kid that feeling, I would believe I had contributed something to the world."

Ultimately the star met a tragic death on August 16, 1977 in the bathroom at Graceland due to cardiac arrhythmia. Many questions rose over the cause of his death like it was due to the excessive intakes of drugs like codeine, Valium, morphine etc. Whatsoever was the reason but once again the death took away another charismatic person from the world. In short he served human race as an actor, musician and soldier ( by joining US army) and will always be alive in form of the following master pieces ; "Wear My Ring Around Your Neck" , “ Love me tender” , “ King Creole” , “Frankie & Johnny” ,” In the Ghetto” , “ Cant help falling in love” and many more. Newsweek precisely described Elvis;

“There are several unbelievable things about Elvis, but the most incredible is his staying power in a world where meteoric careers fade like shooting stars.”

  1. I would appreciate an effort to pay a tribute to a legend, elvis sure being one of em'.

    But, talking about music legends, most of the people say "hendrix" always stood on top.

    Your blog seems intresting, haven't explored it all yet...

    Good Luck.
